Wheel Powder Coating
Resurfaced, electrostatically coated, and oven-cured. Powder coating is to wheel paint what ceramic is to wax — properly tougher.
The right way to color a wheel.
Powder coating is a finish process where dry pigment powder is electrostatically applied to a properly stripped wheel and then baked in a 400°F oven until it flows out and cures into a hard, even shell.
The result is dramatically tougher than wheel paint: better chemical resistance, better impact resistance, no overspray, no runs, and no solvent fumes. The trade-off is time. Wheels need to come off the car, get stripped (often by chemical bath or media blasting), and cycle through the oven.
We do not powder coat over an existing finish. Every wheel we touch gets stripped to bare alloy, inspected for cracks and curb damage, optionally repaired (welding curb rash and re-truing bent rims), then primed and coated.
What's included
- Wheel removal and tire dismount
- Chemical strip + bead blast back to bare alloy
- Curb rash repair and crack inspection (additional charge if needed)
- Heat-cured primer + powder color coat + clear protective coat
- Tire remount, balance, and torque to spec
- Optional: brushed center caps, painted center inserts, accent rings
Wheel coating FAQ
Powder coating vs paint — what's the difference?
Powder is a thicker, oven-cured finish that resists chips, brake dust, and chemicals far better than wet paint. Wet paint is faster and cheaper but won't last on a wheel.
Can you do my OEM wheels or just aftermarket?
Either. Most jobs are OEM wheels — color-shifting them dramatically changes how a car reads.
Do you fix curb rash?
Yes — we sand, weld if needed, and resurface before stripping. Adds $80–$150 per wheel.
Will tires need to be replaced?
No, we dismount and remount the same tires. We balance and torque before you leave.
Can you do center caps and trim rings?
Yes — separate disassembly, separate coating, often a contrasting finish for a two-tone effect.
How long off the car?
3–4 business days. We can provide loaner wheels for an additional fee.
